Public Health Vaccination Nurse – PRN RN/LPN

PRN – Part-Time as needed
Salary Range: $25 – $35 dependent on qualifications and experience
As our vaccination nurse you will help with vaccinating our community, on an as-needed basis during our busy vaccination periods.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Active Illinois RN or LPN license
  • Experience with immunization programs preferred

Environmental Health Inspector – Public Health Educator
Full-time, Mon- Fri
Salary Range: $17.50 to $22.50

The Environmental Health Inspector will serve as a public health educator and regulator, conducting activities and delivering services in Environmental Health & Tobacco Prevention programs.

Environmental Health (estimated at 80% of work):  

  • Maintain knowledge in a variety of program areas and assist in ensuring the smooth operation of Environmental Health programs.
  • Conduct activities within the Food Protection Program to protect the citizens within our jurisdiction from contracting foodborne diseases and to prevent disease transmission. This includes performing routine, follow-up and complaint inspections at food service establishments. 
  • Conduct activities within the Private Sewage Disposal Program to prevent the transmission of disease, environmental contamination, and nuisances resulting from improper handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of sewage from private sewage disposal systems. This includes providing consultation to both licensed installation contractors and homeowners regarding private sewage disposal systems, reviewing applications and issuing permits, and conducting on-site inspections at the time of construction to verify installations conform to approved plans and specifications. 
  • Conduct activities within the Potable Water Program to protect people from contracting waterborne diseases and to prevent disease transmission, including reviewing applications and issuing permits for newly constructed or modified private water wells and closed loop wells and conducting on-site inspections during construction. 
  • Assist with other programs falling under Environmental Health, including but not limited to Vector Surveillance and Control, Tick Surveillance, Body Art, Tanning, and Solid Waste. 

Tobacco Prevention (estimated at 20% of work): 

 

  • Conduct activities related to Smoke-Free Illinois Act (SFIA) Enforcement, including conducting SFIA compliance checks on public places and places of employment. 
  • Provide the Catch My Breath Youth E-Cigarette Prevention Program curriculum in schools and youth community organizations. 
  • Conduct activities and outreach to promote the Illinois Tobacco Quitline (ITQL). This includes conducting outreach to potential partners and registering partner organizations in the ITQL referral program and maintaining ongoing communication with registered partner organizations. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates Degree required with a minimum of 9 credit hours of science.
  • IL Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 30 credit hours of science
  • LEHP or REHS/RS preferred, or willing to obtain
